Cervical screening is one of the few tests where the benefit comes almost entirely from doing it regularly. A single test tells you about today; a pattern of tests over years is what actually catches change early. That is precisely why living abroad tends to disrupt it — the appointment slips to the next trip home, the trip is postponed, and two or three years pass without anyone intending it.

The test itself is short. A Pap smear collects a small sample of cells from the cervix so they can be examined for early changes, long before any symptoms would appear. Many women also have HPV testing alongside it, since persistent infection with certain HPV types is the main driver of cervical cancer. At THE FIT CLINIC a board-certified gynecologist performs the examination and explains the result to you directly, rather than sending a report you have to interpret alone.

If you are unsure when you were last screened, that is not a reason to delay — say so, and the doctor will work from there. Bring any records you have, including vaccination history, but do not let missing paperwork stop you booking. Screening intervals depend on your age, your previous results and whether HPV testing is included, so the plan is set individually rather than by a single rule.

No referral is needed and the appointment does not take long. THE FIT CLINIC is on the 8th floor of EM Tower, EMSPHERE, directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong, and is open every day from 10:00 to 19:00, which makes it practical to come at a weekend rather than taking time off. Questions can be sent first on LINE @thefitbkk.
